Two cooperative versions of the Guessing Secrets problem

چکیده
We investigate two cooperative variants (with and without lies) of the Guessing Secrets Problem, introduced in [4] in the attempt to model an interactive situation arising in the World Wide Web, in relation to the e¢ cient delivery of Internet content. After placing bounds on the cardinality of the smallest set of questions needed to win the game, we establish that the algebra of all the states of knowledge induced by any designated game is a pseudocomplemented lattice. In particular, its join semilattice reduct is embeddable into the corresponding reduct of the Boolean algebra 2 , where N is the cardinality of the search space.

Protecting Intellectual Property by Guessing Secrets
In the guessing secrets problem defined by Chung, Graham and Leighton [9], player B has to unveil a set of k > 1 secrets that player A has chosen from a pool of N secrets. To discover the secrets, player B is allowed to ask a series of boolean questions. For each question asked, A can adversarially choose one of the secrets but once he has made his choice he must answer truthfully. In this pape...
متن کاملSolving a Two-Period Cooperative Advertising Problem Using Dynamic Programming
Cooperative advertising is a cost-sharing mechanism in which a part of retailers' advertising investments are financed by the manufacturers. In recent years, investment among advertising options has become a difficult marketing issue. In this paper, the cooperative advertising problem with advertising options is investigated in a two-period horizon in which the market share in the second period...

A standard correction for random guessing (cfg) formula on multiple-choice and Yes/Noexaminations was examined retrospectively in the scores of the intermediate female EFL learners in an English language school. The correctionwas a weighting formula for points awarded for correct answers, incorrect answers, and unanswered questions so that the expectedvalue of the increase in test score due to g...
متن کاملGeneral form of a cooperative gradual maximal covering location problem
Cooperative and gradual covering are two new methods for developing covering location models. In this paper, a cooperative maximal covering location–allocation model is developed (CMCLAP). In addition, both cooperative and gradual covering concepts are applied to the maximal covering location simultaneously (CGMCLP). Then, we develop an integrated form of a cooperative gradual maximal covering ...
متن کامل3 Quantum Guessing via Deutsch - Jozsa
We examine the “Guessing Secrets” problem arising in internet routing, in which the goal is to discover two or more objects from a known finite set. We propose a quantum algorithm using O(1) calls to an O(logN) oracle. This improves upon the best known classical result, which uses O(logN) questions and requires an additional O(logN3) steps to produce the answer. In showing the possibilities of ...
